The landless squatters called on a general strike to protest against the government's decision to remove their settlements from the banks of the Bagmati River. Narayan Parisharmi, Vice Chairman of the landless squatters' struggle committee, said that the squatters will continue their protest until the government provides them with an alternative settlement.
